Our life with these two precious babies--what an adventure!

Another tooth for Addison!

On our plane ride back to DC yesterday (during which the babies were TOTAL angels, their best flight yet--they slept, ate, played, smiled, laughed, and were generally the best babies ever--Addison did a lot of pee-weeing and we had to change her outfit on the plane, but that was our only mid-flight incident), Mary thought she saw a second tooth coming in on Addison's lower gums...and she was right! Both babies now have two bottom teeth working their way in.

**Is it the normal course of baby teeth to come in two at a time?! Both our babies have gotten their second tooth within days of getting their first tooth...

The baby whisperer

Addison has had an awful cold, which has caused her to demand being held rather constantly, and only by her mama--which is totally endearing, and her mom is happy to oblige. But there are times, while few and far between (and generally involving having to go to the bathroom or needing to get a little bit of sleep), when Mom needs to have her hands baby free. Addison hasn't been happy being held by anyone else--except for her Grandpa Tom. Who knew he was such the baby whisperer?! It has been particularly sweet to see my dad love these babies, and to see them love him right back.

While it was no fun for the babies to be sick while we were home in Idaho, we were so lucky to have so many people around to help take care of them (and to make sure everyone was happy and held).

It has been wonderful to be in Idaho and spend so much time with family--these babies are so loved by so many! Thanks Mom and Dad and Aunt Rachel and Uncle Andrew and everyone else for a great week at home--and I tell you what, now that we're back in DC, the babies and I are missing all of you baby whisperers!

An Easter Surprise

Guess what?! Addison got her first tooth today, on her first Easter! Aunt Rachel thought she felt a little something, and she was right--Addison's bottom right tooth has just barely broken through. Poor girl--teething and having a terrible cold at the same time doesn't seem fair. But even through it all, she's still a sweet happy baby!

Happy Easter!

Today is the babies' first Easter! We got up this morning and found that the Easter Bunny had left baskets for everyone--the babies each got two books, a bottle of bubbles, an outfit, and a stuffed animal of the bunny and chick variety. The babies loved the excitement around getting their baskets, and then loved playing with the grass after we took all of the fun things out of the baskets.

Then we all got ready and went to church--the babies looked great all dressed in their new Easter outfits. That's one thing I remember growing up, always getting a new dress for Easter. Anyway, Aunt Rachel came home for the long weekend, and Great Grandma Katseanes joined us for church and Easter dinner, and Uncle Andrew and John joined us for Easter dinner as well. It was wonderful to spend the weekend with my family!

I just love these guys so much--aren't they adorable?

7 Months!

The babies turned 7 months old last week, which is un-be-lievable! They are such fun little people who are doing exciting new things every day--and they are seriously keeping us on our toes these days!

The babies have increasingly been on the move these past couple of weeks. It's gotten to the point that we now can't leave either of them on the floor without being right there--they are rolling and scooting all over the place. One minute, they are laying on their tummies right next to you, the next minute they have rolled almost under the couch. It's crazy! They are both up on their hands and knees, so close to crawling. They have all of the pieces, and when they figure out how to put them together, we will have two crawling babies--and we will be toast! We have some babyproofing to do, STAT!!

Both babies still love standing up and jumping. When I help stand Addison up, she points her toes and stands on her tippy toes--adorable. Jackson lifts and taps his right foot, like he wants to take a step--he also sticks his bum out and bounces up and down, like he's dancing. Also adorable.

In the past month, Addison's hair has filled in quite a bit. She's now got spunky, short locks--I wonder, will they end up curly?! Right now, they are just soft and fine and stick out kind of goofily. I keep telling her that it adds to her charm. Jackson is getting a little bit more hair too--it's just so light and fine that it doesn't look like much, except for a Charlie Brown-esque patch of hair at the front of his head. From most angles, he has light brown hair, but in some light, it looks almost strawberry blonde. How did I get a strawberry blonde boy?!

Addison has turned into a yelling fiend--she's been trying out a few new yells in the past couple of weeks. One of them is just a super loud scream--which, at first, made Jackson cry. Poor little guy, I have to agree that it was an alarming sort of yell--he's since toughened up a little bit, and most days his sister's screams don't cause him to burst into tears. Addison also has a series of short shouts which are hysterical--it's like she isn't getting quite enough attention, so she'll start yelling. Sometimes Addison and Jackson get into shouting matches, and even better, sometimes Addison will yell back if I yell at her in the same tone--our first conversations! Jackson is still a babbler--tatata and dadada. Every now and again he'll just say "dad"--very sweet.

Jackson's teeth are much more visible now, and are sharp as all get out. You'd better watch our if he gets a hold of your finger--when he bites, it hurts! And poor Addison must have teeth about ready to break though--she's drooling all over the place, gnawing on everything, and has been acting like a maniac the past week. All signs point to a tooth coming in, but still she has no teeth. I'd imagine we'll see one in her little mouth soon?

Sleep is still hit or miss. It is so nice when we have a night where we get decent sleep. Jackson has slept through the night probably 6 or 7 times. The doctor said that based on his weight, he should be able to sleep through the night--but when he wakes up crying and hungry, feeding him is the quickest and easiest way to get everyone back to bed and sleeping, so most nights he still wakes up once a night for a snack. Addison has slept through the night a time or two, but generally she still needs to eat once per night. Up once a night to feed babies isn't bad--it's when each of the babies are up multiple times that it gets to be really hard on mom. At our last visit, the doctor also told us that Jackson needed to be able to sooth himself better--so we've been trying to let him put himself back to sleep when he wakes up in the middle of the night, if he's already eaten. We've had mixed success, but I think we're all getting better at it.

Everyone is eating really well, and the babies are loving real food. Their favorites are apples, peaches, sweet potatoes, and bananas--our babies love to eat!

Overall, our babies are very happy, smiley, sweet little people--we are so blessed with these two! And they just keep on getting more and more fun!
