We had a fun Fourth of July weekend (we LOVE long weekends!)--the babies and I kicked off the weekend with a trip to Lisa's pool. The babies just love swimming, and to make it even better, Lisa had an awesome baby floaty which the babies loved playing in. They also had fun splashing and bobbing around with mom. Saturday, while Daniel helped our friends Matt and Becky move into their new place, the babies and Mary and I ventured out to Costco to stock up on food, wipes, and formula. The babies love Costco for two reasons: the first is that they have double barrel carts, so they can both sit in the cart right next to each other. The second are the samples. The babies tried apple pie, chicken salad, crackers, apple strudel, all kinds of things--they loved it!
On Sunday, we went over to Cathy's house for dinner, and talk about an adventure for the babies--she had awesome toys that the babies loved playing with, and so much space for them to crawl around and explore, and they had a lot of fun interacting with Cathy and her daughter Taylor. We had a bad case of space-envy as we left that evening. The babies got good and worn out playing, and Cathy served us a delicious dinner (the babies tried salmon and pasta and Ritz crackers--and Cathy spoiled them and let them try some freshly whipped cream, which they gobbled right up)--it was a great evening.
Then on Monday, we had friends over for a Fourth of July BBQ. The babies love being around people, so they were thrilled to have people over and were, as always, the center of attention. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs (the babies ate watermelon and cantaloupe), and had a lot of fun with Olivia, Jessica, Holly, Cordell and Darrin. (Though it should be noted that Spud did not have fun--he HATES fireworks and as such, hates the Fourth of July. I told him it's a little bit unpatriotic of him--but that I understand, fireworks can be a little bit scarey.)
While we were cleaning the house and getting ready for our friends to come over, Addison discovered the vent and had a Marilyn Monroe moment with her skirt flying up (while Jackson was hanging out in the exersaucer).
And here are a few picture at the end of the BBQ of mom and dad with our little firecrackers--happy first Fourth of July, babies!
