Stats

The babies had their one year check up with the doctor today. Overall, the doctor said they were in perfect health, and she correctly stated that we are just getting to a really fun age (although, she gave us repeated warnings about choking hazards--anything these kids find still goes right into their mouths!). Jackson is 30 inches tall (right at the 50th percentile) and weighs 21 lb, 12 oz (which puts him in the 30th percentile)--the only thing larger than average is his head, which is in the 80th percentile (but suits him and his curly hair perfectly). Addison is 30.5 inches tall (in the 85th percentile, and rubbing it in that she's taller than her brother) and weighs 20 lb 4 oz (in the 31st percentile). What's with my skinny babies?! The doctor was totally not concerned--she said that once babies start walking, they tend to thin out, and as long as they are eating lots of food and drinking lots of milk, we are fine.

Fall's in the air!

All of a sudden, it feels like fall...and we like it! We opened the windows! We got out our jackets (in which the babies look adorable!) and we got some new big-kid shoes! We played outside without having sweat run down our backs!! Hooray for fall--we are so ready for it!

Birthday Gifts

This year for my birthday, I got more that a girl could dream of. First off, I have these two babies. Enough said, right? But then, Daniel went all in and got me an amazing gift. Every girl's dream.
Thank you, sweetie. Further, my parents got me a Kindle--awesome!! Reading again feels great, except that the first book I downloaded was a really good read and I had to stay up late multiple nights to read it. I finally finished it last night, but I'm super tired!! It's definitely tricky trying to balance babies, work, home, life, reading, and everything else!

All Dressed Up!

We got all dressed up for church today--we hadn't been in our fancy dress clothes since Aunt Rachel's wedding, and of course we were in such a rush that day, we didn't get any pictures of the babies all dressed up. So--we had a bit of a fashion show after church. It's too bad that we get really good light in the half bath off of the kitchen--the babies end up with a toilet in the pictures with them!

Happy Birthday, Babies!!

Happy, happy birthday to our babies! It's hard to believe they're one year old. One thing about their birthday is that it will often fall on a holiday weekend--so we had three days to celebrate! Today, we opened presents then had fun playing with all of our new toys (inside and outside). Here are some pictures from our day!

What a sassy little one year old!

Daniel's been trying to convince the babies that they like being tossed in the air--Addison sometimes plays along.

Spud wants to play too!

Our little Dodgers fan, sitting atop his new scooter (one of their birthday gifts!).

Then, in a rite of passage for one-year-olds, the babies each got their own piece of cake. We had a birthday classic--funfetti cake with rainbow chip frosting. As you can see, the babies really like cake, though each of them took a different approach to eating their cake.

Addison thoughtfully went in with both hands...

And then went at it with both hands.

Jackson took a bit more of a methodical approach, eating the entire piece from the top down.

And then, being sufficiently covered in cake and frosting, we had extra long birthday baths!

One year ago today...

you two came into our lives. What a year it's been--both the most challenging, as well as the most rewarding and exhilerating year of my life. Happy birthday babies--you have brought so much love and happiness and so many smiles into my life.

It's hard to believe that this is who you guys were one year ago:

You've grown so much in one year! You're such unbelievably fun, sweet, happy, funny little people--your mom and dad love you so much!!
